Joanne Campione, PhD, is a Principal Research Associate with 30 years of experience in health services and public health research, focused primarily on measuring health care quality and safety, and the well-being of older adults. She is skilled in study design, SAS programming, survey methodology, statistical modeling, evaluation, and mixed methods and has strong analytical experience working with survey data, electronic health records (EHRs) claims data, and other clinical datasets.
Campione serves as project director of the National Survey of Older American Act Participants (NSOAAP) for HHS’s Administration for Community Living (ACL) Additionally, she designs and leads research studies using AHRQ SOPS® data to measure the association between an organization’s patient safety culture and quality of care. Using EHR data, she was the lead researcher on a CDC-funded longitudinal study to assess the use of diabetes prevention programs and to measure the effect of those programs on preventing type 2 diabetes incidence.
Campione is a routine peer reviewer for Medical Care Journal and a member of AcademyHealth, APHA, and the Gerontological Society of America. She sits on the board of NC’s nonprofit advocacy organization, Friends of Residents of Long-Term Care. She publishes in peer-reviewed journals and presents at prestigious conferences.
